PEPCO,
Philippine Environmentech Products Corporation,
is presently engaged in the manufacturing of coco fibers with coco
organic soil (coco peat) as its by-products, from coconut husks.
PEPCO predominantly exports its coco fibers to North Asia and will
soon export its coco organic soil.
PEPCO
was organized in January, 2002 by the Young family (Filipino) in
cooperation with the Chen Shou-nan family (Taiwan) to develop the
coco coir business and to promote its environmental utility through
appropriate applications. Its facilities were originally installed
by the Chen family about ten years ago.
During its maiden year of operations, the plant facilities were
being improved. Up to this date, the upgrading of the plant facilities
is ongoing. The facilities include two sets of double drum decorticating
machines, three sets of high pressure strapping machines and a coco-shell
fired drier, all with their attendant accessories. Each decorticating
machine has the capacity to manufacture almost eight tons of coco
fibers and twenty four tons of coco organic soil on a two shift
basis.
The plant is located in Victoria, Laguna, Philippines. Strategically,
the plant is near its sources of raw material and its markets/port
facilities.
The officers of PEPCO are: Mr. Roland U. Young as Chair and CEO;
Mr. Chen Shou-nan as Vice-Chair and Consultant; Mr. Ronald Young
as President; Ms. Carolina T. Young as Treasurer; Mr. R. Frederick
Young as Executive Assistant to the Chair; Mr. Eduardo Devanadera
